Dr. Leon B. Newton
Dr. Newton was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Neville High School in May 1986. He then enlisted into the United States Army in March of 1989 for training as an Airborne Infantryman. Upon completion of Airborne school, at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was then assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, 1/325 A.I.R., at Fort Bragg, NC. He served with combat distinction in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-91. He later served in the communications field with the 124th Signal Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado, followed by service as a Senior Career Counselor at Fort Gordon, GA, Camp Casey, Korea and Fort Liberty, NC. He graduated with honors from all Non-Commissioned Officer’s schools and was selected to the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, while stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
He has received five citations from the President of the United States during his military service for meritorious service and achievement. While at Fort Bragg, NC, he was placed on the United States Army’s Retired List as a Master Sergeant on April 1, 2009. His education includes an Associate of Science Degree, a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Master of Science Degree, a Master of Arts Degree, a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Pastoral Leadership with a 3.96GPA.
Dr. Newton is an Ordained Elder! He served God and his people in the capacity of Assistant Pastor during his tenure in ministry. He taught the 6-month MasterLife Discipleship Course for fifteen years, resulting in Christlike transformation for many. One of his favorite scriptures is Mark 11:23-24(KJV), “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith, Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
